Only seven of these societies have so far submitted returns to the registrar in respect of the year 1939. According to the returns submitted, the membership of these seven societies at the end of the year 1939 was 1,604 and their sales during that year amounted to £1,564.
More complete figures are available in respect of the year 1938. For that year 31 returns were received, showing a membership of 4,714 and sales amounting to £11,350.
