Vol. 81 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Committee of Inquiry into Housing.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the date upon which the Committee of Inquiry into Housing was set up, and whether it has yet presented its report, and, if so, whether it is proposed to publish the report immediately; and if the report has not yet been presented, if he will state whether he has inquired into the cause of delay in its presentation, and what the cause is.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether the Housing Commission has yet presented its report to him, and, if so, whether he will cause it to be printed and circulated at an early date.

The Committee of Inquiry into Dublin housing was set up on 21st March, 1939. The report has not yet been presented. The reply to the last part of Deputy Mulcahy's question is in the negative.

Will the Minister say whether he has asked the committee when the report will be available or whether he has urged any reasons on them for presenting the report at the earliest possible moment in order that the housing policy may be seen in proper perspective?

I have urged them to issue the report at the earliest possible moment.

Has the Minister any hope that it will be available soon?

I cannot fix a definite date, but I am anxious to get the report as soon as possible.

Does the Minister see any prospect of getting it soon?

I do, yes.
