asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state to which, if any, of the commodities mentioned in the Emergency Powers (Control of Prices) (Nos. 1 and 2) Orders, 1939 (S.R.O. 1939, Nos. 231 and 241) does the price control established by the said orders now apply.

The Emergency Powers (Control of Prices) (Nos. 1 and 2) Orders, 1939, do not now apply to any of the commodities mentioned therein. The orders mentioned, which were in the nature of "stand-still" orders were made following the outbreak of war with a view to preventing any unjustified rise in prices, and in their application to the various commodities concerned they have been gradually revoked.
