Vol. 87 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sinking of Pump at Kildare.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the fact that about five years ago a pump was sunk on the Meddlicott estate at Beechpark, Dunmurray, Kildare, for tenants who were allotted holdings on the estate, that the work of erecting the pump was not completed, and if he will state what action the Land Commission propose to take to complete the work so as to provide water for the tenants on the estate.

The delay in completing the work in this case appears to have been largely due to the difficulty of procuring a deep-well pump and equipment which was found to be required owing to the depth of the well sunk in order to reach water. A suitable pump having been procured, the contractor expects to complete the installation at an early date.

That was some speed— five years.

The point about it is that it was an exceptionally deep well. There were four wells and there was no trouble about the other three. The Deputy has not asked any question about them.

Because I knew they were all right.
