Vol. 88 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Kilkenny Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission intend to divide the Bessborough estate, Piltown, County Kilkenny, already acquired by them; and whether, when such scheme of division is in course of preparation, he will have examined the congestion that exists on Mount Leinster amongst tenants on the Bessborough estate, Raheenleigh, Myshall, County Carlow, with a view to migrating some of these families to Piltown.

It is not at present possible to say when arrangements for the division of the Bessborough estate at Piltown, County Kilkenny, will be completed. As the Bessborough estate, Raheenleigh, Myshall, County Carlow, is situated a considerable distance away from the Piltown lands, and as no applications have been received from any of the Raheenleigh tenants for exchange to the Piltown lands, the question of migration has not arisen and does not appear to require examination.
