Vol. 88 No. 17

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take items Nos. 2 and 3 on the Order Paper.

Is it intended to sit to-morrow?

Are you going to sit next week?

Would the Tánaiste indicate at this stage what is the arrangement for the Christmas Recess?

I do not know yet. I take it the Parliamentary Secretary will get in touch with the Whips in the matter.

May we take it it is highly unlikely that the House will sit in the week after next?

It is unlikely. With regard to two Bills of which the House yesterday agreed to the First Readings —the Expiring Laws Bill and the Superannuation Bill—the Chair asked me when it is proposed to take the Second Readings, and I indicated that I would like to take them on next Wednesday week. Possibly, we may not be sitting then and I would ask the House, if it has no objection, to take these Bills—I think they are non-contentious Bills—on this day week, discharge the resolution agreed to yesterday and put in a new one taking the Expiring Laws Bill on Thursday next and the Superannuation Bill on the same day.

Have they been circulated?

The Expiring Laws Bill has been circulated, and the other Bill will be circulated not later than Saturday.
