Vol. 91 No. 2

Order of Business.

There is only one item on the Order Paper for to-day, but I wonder if it would be possible to get any understanding as to the hour which the Adjournment might be taken to-day. I understand that a number of Deputies could not reach their homes this week-end if they did not get away at a reasonable hour to-day. Perhaps the House might think it proper that we should adjourn not later than 2 o'clock?

Could we have any indication from these Deputies as to what time would suit them?

Mr. Lynch

So far as we are concerned, we are prepared to agree that the House should adjourn at 2 o'clock. Does that mean that the Taoiseach would reply at 1 o'clock?

I should like a little more than the hour.

Mr. Lynch

So far as Fine Gael are concerned, we are quite agreeable to facilitate the Taoiseach in getting in at 1 o'clock.

Some of these trains leave at 1.30.

The House will, of course, adjourn earlier if the business is concluded.

Will that arrangement meet the convenience of the other Parties?

On behalf of the Independents, I agree to the arrangement.

Does Deputy Anthony speak for his Party?

So far as this Party is concerned, we are willing to fall in with any arrangement made.

We concur also.

The Taoiseach then is to rise to conclude not later than 1 o'clock.

There are earlier trains and it might facilitate Deputies if they were able to get away in time for them.

There is nothing to prevent the House rising in two hours, if it so desires. It is, therefore, an order of the House that the Chair call on the Taoiseach not later than 1 o'clock, to conclude this debate.

Agreed.
