Vol. 91 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Leix Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether a division scheme has yet been prepared and sanctioned for the estate of Mr. Kenny, Rossdarragh, Rathdowney, County Leix; and, if so, whether it will be put into operation before the end of the present year; also what amount, if any, has been allocated for the carrying out of improvement work on the estate, and whether the work will be completed before the end of the financial year.

The scheme for the division of the lands of Rossdarragh and Cappalinan, on the estate of Henry D. Kenny, has not yet been completed. No sum has yet been allocated for improvement works on this estate beyond a sum of £135 sanctioned for some fencing, which was found to be needed.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether a division scheme has yet been prepared and sanctioned for the estate of Mr. Alley, Knockaroo, Borris-in-Ossory, County Leix; and, if so, whether it will be put into operation before the end of the present year.

The preparation of a scheme for the division of the lands of Kilcotton and Knockaroo on the Alley estate has not yet been undertaken, as the lands have not yet been acquired by the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the amount paid for the estate of Sir Ralph Coote (record No. S/5982), County Leix, the total acreage acquired, the acreage of arable land and the acreage of bog; whether a division scheme has been prepared and sanctioned; and, if so, when it will be put into operation; also, the amount, if any, allocated for carrying out improvement work on the estate, and whether the work will be completed before the end of the present financial year.

The estate of Sir Ralph Coote, record No. S/5982, has not yet been acquired by the Land Commission and a scheme for the division of the lands has not yet been prepared. The owner has accepted a price of £1,050 proposed by the Land Commission for the purchase of 1,622 acres, consisting wholly of bog and cutaway bog. No sum has yet been allocated for improvement works on this estate.
