Vol. 91 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that, because of continual conacre lettings by the Land Commission, the fertility of the lands of the Byrne estate, Newtownallen, County Kildare, has been seriously abused to the detriment of future tenants; and if he will say whether a scheme of division has yet been prepared; and whether it is the intention of the commissioners to have these lands divided during the coming winter.

The Land Commission are not aware that the lands of Newtownallen, on the estate of Miss Margaret Byrne, record No. S.8800, County Kildare, have been seriously abused owing to conacre lettings, but inquiry will be made into the matter. A scheme for the division of these lands has not yet been prepared and, until this scheme has been completed and settled, it will not be possible to say when the lands will be divided.
