Vol. 91 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchase of Ships by Irish Shipping, Ltd.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state the number of ships which have been purchased by Irish Shipping, Ltd.; and the total number and net tonnage of the ships at present owned by the company.

The number of ships purchased and owned by Irish Shipping, Ltd., is ten. The net tonnage is 19,637.

I asked in the question for the number of ships purchased by the company and the total number and net tonnage of the ships at present owned by the company. Am I to understand that the net tonnage quoted by the Minister takes into account the losses sustained by the company?

The company purchased a certain number of ships. The question is how many of these have the company now?

That is a separate question.

It is not. Will the Minister read the second part of the question, which asks for the total number and net tonnage of the ships at present owned by the company? The Minister said they purchased a certain number of ships. How many of that number have they now?

There are ten ships in service.

It took a supplementary question to get that.
