Vol. 91 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dredging of Howth Harbour.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the serious condition of Howth Harbour, and that a dredger has not been sent to Howth for the past five years; and if, in view of the increase in the fishing fleet at Howth, he will take steps to have the harbour dredged immediately.

Although it is true that no dredging has been carried out at Howth Harbour since 1938, when major dredging was carried out there, I am advised that no difficulty has been experienced by any of the boats using the harbour.

Normal maintenance dredging operations have had to be suspended at various harbours owing to the scarcity of steam coal.
