Vol. 91 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Leix National School.

Mr. Byrne (for Mr. Flanagan)

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the protests being made by the people of Boley, Ballylinan. County Leix, against the proposed closing of the local national school on the grounds that a new school to replace it is to be erected at an inconvenient distance from the children's homes; and if he will see that this new school will be situated at the most central and convenient spot for the children of this area, in the interests of their health, and for the convenience of their parents.

I am aware that a protest has been made by the parents of pupils attending Boley National School, Laoighis, against the proposal to replace this school and another school by a new central school, on the ground that the new school would be situated at an inconvenient distance from the pupils' homes. I am having further inquiries made in the matter.
