Vol. 92 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of County Galway Farm.

asked the Minister for Lands why the farm known as Peake's, Dunmore, County Galway (one time owned by Dominican Fathers, Galway), now for a number of years in the hands of the Land Commission, has not been divided amongst the tenants.

The farm in question appears to comprise the tenanted holding of Mary Groorke and others on the estate of the Dominican Fathers, Record No. S.5351, County Galway, situated in the townland of Gortaleam (locally known as Peak). Proceedings for the resumption of this holding for division among the tenants were initiated under the Land Act of 1939, but the Land Commission have not yet taken possession of the lands. The amount of compensation was fixed, by the Appeal Tribunal in June last, and as soon as the resumption proceedings are completed steps will be taken for the division of the lands.
