Vol. 92 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Dublin County Council Workers.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he received a recommendation recently from the commissioner administering the affairs of the Dublin County Council in favour of granting a supplementary bonus or increase in wages to the road workers and other low-paid employees of the county council; and, if so, whether he has reached a decision regarding it; further, if such recommendation has not been received, whether he will now instruct the commissioner to review the present wages of these workers with a view to giving them a reasonable increase to meet the continuously increasing cost of living.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. In regard to the latter part of the question, I do not propose to make any representations to the commissioner on the matter.

Is it a fact that no recommendation has been sent to the Minister?
