Vol. 95 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dunmore National School.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that two teachers in Dunmore Boys' National School are compelled to teach from 90 to 105 pupils in one classroom where there is only floor space for 48 pupils; that the medical officer of health condemned this arrangement two years ago and reported that additional accommodation was required; whether there was a sum allocated for the building of an additional classroom on condition that a local contribution of £50 was provided; and, if so, if he is aware that the local contribution was provided months ago; and if he will state what is the delay in proceeding with the work.

A grant has been made by my Department in aid of the cost of the provision of an additional classroom for this school. The Commissioners of Public Works, who will arrange for the execution of the work, have in hands the preparation of the necessary plans and specification and hope to be in a position to invite tenders for the carrying out of the scheme at an early date.
