Vol. 95 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Turbary.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state when it is proposed to pay compensation to Mr. P. Reddy, Grangehiggin, Kilmeague, Naas, in respect of turbary which was acquired from him by the Turf Development Board.

As intimated in reply to a similar question on the 28th September, 1944, this case, like other 1944 compensation cases, is under examination and compensation will be paid without avoidable delay.

Will the Minister bear in mind the fact that this man is in very bad financial circumstances, and authorise a special investigation into this case, with a view to having the compensation paid at the earliest possible opportunity?

Compensation will be paid at the earliest possible opportunity.

From the point of view of enabling this man to know when he will be able to pay debts, will the Minister say when he is likely to receive the compensation?

The amount of compensation that is likely to be paid in this case is not very large and, in any event, it is not possible to assess the compensation payable until the end of the year.

Can the Minister say if this man will receive payment in January?

After the end of the year.
