Vol. 96 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Fishermen's Equipment.

asked the Minister for Supplies if, in view of the fact that the price of salmon is controlled, he is prepared to control the price of nets, ropes and other equipment necessary for fishermen.

The equipment, used by salmon fishermen, with the exception of ropes, is in the main imported. The prices at which it is imported cannot be controlled. Control is already exercised over the manufacturers' prices of ropes in this country. I have no evidence that the prices being charged by distributors for these articles are unreasonable and I do not, therefore, consider it necessary to institute a control of distributors' prices.
