Vol. 96 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Misuse of Petrol.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state if his attention has been directed to a report of court proceedings at Omagh, arising out of a charge of misuse of petrol, in which it was stated that the defendant, a resident of Enniskillen, had a ration of petrol in Eire; if the person concerned was, in fact, receiving such ration, and, if so, for what purposes; and if he proposes to take any action regarding the misuse of the ration in the Six Counties.

I have seen a newspaper report of the proceedings referred to by the Deputy. The person concerned is not in receipt of any petrol ration from my Department. The appropriate authorities were notified that a witness from my Department would, if desired, give evidence in connection with the court proceedings mentioned in the question, but application for the attendance of a witness was not received.
