Vol. 97 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Elections in Kerry.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if it is intended to hold the local elections in Kerry in common with the other counties in Éire.

There will be no election of members of the Kerry County Council at the forthcoming triennial elections. The holding of a new election after the members of a local authority have been removed is governed by Section 45 of the Local Government Act, 1941.

Is it the Minister's intention to have the commissioner removed because of the fact that he has reduced the road estimate, a request which was made by the county council to the manager and for which they were abolished by the Minister?

That is a separate question.

It is not a separate question.

In the opinion of the Chair, it is. The question was, if it is intended to hold an election, and not what the action of the manager was.

I might point out, however, that if the majority Party of the county council had taken the trouble to consider the estimate they might have been able to do the same thing.

As you did not allow the question, you ought not to allow the answer.
