Vol. 97 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repairs to River Embankments.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that complaints have been made to the Land Commission from time to time by tenants and land owners relative to the very bad condition of river embankments in certain areas; and, if so, if he will state if, and when, the Land Commission intend to carry out such repairs, so that the lands subject to flooding may be put into production and thereby be of national benefit.

I am not in a position to give a definite reply to a question framed in such general terms as this. If the Deputy will put down a question relative to a specific case, I shall have inquiry made into the matter. I am aware that complaints are frequently made to the Land Commission about the condition of embankments, for the maintenance of many of which the Land Commission have no responsibility.
