The regulations affecting the employment of workers on employment schemes are constantly under review to meet new conditions as they arise; but it is not proposed to make any change in the existing system during the coming winter.
With regard to the second part of the question, the fortnightly payment of wages on relief schemes is based on the practice of county councils in regard to their own road workers, and I am not prepared to request the councils to alter their practice.
