Vol. 98 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mail Boat Incident.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the grounds for the action of members of the Special Detective Branch in removing from the Holyhead boat on the morning of the 15th September, a man, his wife and three children who were passengers thereon and who held sailing tickets issued by the L.M.S. Company; and if he will cause an inquiry to be made into the incident.

Mr. Boland

I have made inquiries into this matter, and I am informed that the Gárda Síochána did not remove any person from the mail boat on the day in question.

A man, a woman and three children, who boarded the ship via the luggage gangway after the passenger gangway had been removed, were induced to disembark by officials of the railway company. I am informed that no member of the Gárda Síochána intervened in the matter.
