Vol. 98 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Petrol Allowance for Threshing Mill Owners.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will consider making available to owners of threshing mills a basic allowance of petrol for the conveyance of oils and equipment to their work.

A basic allowance of petrol cannot at present be given to threshing contractors for private cars to be used in connection with their business.

Permits and petrol allowances are issued in respect of motor vans to threshing and tillage contractors who have two agricultural outfits or more engaged full time on hire-work. Owing to the fact that the position with regard to petrol has not improved, the concession cannot be granted to contractors who own only one tillage or threshing outfit.
