Vol. 98 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - I.R.A. Pensions Applications.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state whether, in view of the fact that many potential applicants for I.R.A. pensions are domiciled in America and other foreign countries, he will consider deferring the latest date for receiving applications from the 31st December, 1945, to 30th April, 1946.

The latest date for receipt of applications under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, was 31st July, 1945, and not the 31st December, as mentioned by the Deputy.

It is not proposed to extend the time limit further.

In view of the delay in the delivery of letters due to the war, would the Minister consider postponing the date for the receipt of applications?

Surely 11 years is a long enough period to get a man to apply? It has to be stopped some time.
