Vol. 98 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Charges.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the fact that the present charges for electric current are the result of three emergency increases imposed by the Electricity Supply Board since 1941, he is now in a position to indicate when a reduction will be possible, for domestic and other consumers.

The increases in charges allowed to the Electricity Supply Board are justified by increased expenditure arising out of the circumstances of the emergency. Owing to the continued high level of costs it is not at present possible to indicate when it may be practicable to effect a reduction.
