Vol. 98 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Age Limits for Town Clerks.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the age limits prescribed for applicants for positions as town clerks at Naas, Dundalk, Wicklow, and Cavan; if he will state why the age limit for a similar appointment at Listowel was altered; and if he will make a statement on the matter generally.

The age limits in the larger urban districts are usually 25 to 40. In small districts with lower valuation the lower limit has been reduced to 21 years, as in Athy, with a valuation of £7,588; Templemore, with a valuation of £4,528; and Skibbereen, with a valuation of £7,148. The valuation of Listowel is £6,642.
