Vol. 98 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply for Cloghan (Offaly).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the date on which a memorial was received by the Offaly County Council from a large number of ratepayers residing in Cloghan, County Offaly, requesting the provision of a suitable water supply system; whether any proposals have been submitted to his Department in connection with same, and if he will state the cause of the delay in meeting the wishes of the local people concerned.

I am not aware of any representations made by ratepayers residing in Cloghan to the Offaly County Council in regard to the provision of a water supply system for the village. The matter is, of course, primarily one for the county council.

I understand that it is the intention of the council to include Cloghan in a list of water supply schemes to be undertaken as part of a planned programme of post-emergency public health works recommended by the county medical officer of health, but no definite proposals in the matter have yet been received in my Department.
