Vol. 98 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is intended to proceed with the final distribution and rearrangement of the Fitzgerald Estate at Turlough, Drunanaghs, Curraun, etc., in County Mayo.

The difficult position of the Fitzgerald Estate was explained to the Deputy in reply to his previous question of 17th February, 1944. Emergency conditions have prevented the Land Commission from operating the large-scale plans for migration and rearrangement which they have in mind, but an inspector is at present engaged in the preparation of a resale scheme for a holding resumed on the estate which will affect the townlands of Rockfield, Cloghadockan and Cloonkeesh. It is not possible at present to state when the final resale of the whole of this big estate can be completed. The Land Commission are dealing with it as expeditiously as present circumstances permit.
