County committees of agriculture are authorised to allocate funds for the purchase of optical lanterns and other necessary equipment for use at winter agricultural classes and lectures conducted by their instructors in agriculture. My Department for years has stressed the desirability of such lanterns being available for instructors as part of their equipment and many of the county committees of agriculture have procured such outfits for the purpose. It must, however, be remembered that equipment of this nature has been almost unprocurable since 1939, and I understand that the supply position in this respect is still difficult.
