Vol. 99 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Exemption from Examination Fees.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make arrangements to ensure that members and ex-members of the Defence Forces, who desire to sit for the various examinations, will be exempted from payment of application and entry fees charged by the Civil Service Commissioners and the Local Appointments Commissioners.

As regards the competitions to be held in March next for posts as junior executive officer, customs and excise officer, clerical officer and tax officer confined to persons with Army service, application fees at a lower rate than those applicable for the open competitions for these posts have been fixed. In the case of further competitions where special provision may be made for ex-Army candidates, the application fees to be prescribed for each competition will be considered after any necessary consultation with the Department of Defence, as and when such competitions arise.
