Vol. 99 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flooding of River Maine.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the serious flooding of large areas of land in the townlands of Callinafercy East and West, County Kerry, due to breaches in the embankments of the River Maine; and if he will take steps to have said embankments repaired at an early date.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply to his previous question of the 19th October, 1944, in this matter. The Land Commission are not responsible for the repair or maintenance of the River Maine embankments in the townlands of Callinafercy East and West. The question of the assistance which the Land Commission could give towards the execution of the repairs now necessary is at present under consideration but the Land Commission are not yet in a position to state what action, if any, they can take in the case.
