Vol. 101 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as on the Order Paper, Nos. 3 and 4 (Votes 61, 54 and the Public Works Votes, Nos. 67 to 2). It is proposed to sit on Tuesday next week, and to sit in the following week on Tuesday and Wednesday only.

Is the House sitting to-morrow?

Could the Tánaiste say at this stage when it is proposed to take the Report Stage of the Public Health Bill?

The Public Works Votes are all to be discussed to-day?

Yes, Nos. 67, 9, 10, 11, 1 and 2.

All these will be taken, one after another?

They will be debated together.

Do we understand that the Vote for Employment Schemes will be taken together with the Vote for the President's Establishment?

The Tánaiste is trying to put over a quick one, but he will not get away with it.

That is the usual procedure. It has been the regular practice to take all the Estimates for the Office of Public Works together.

It has been the usual practice to discuss Employment Schemes separately. Votes 67 to 2 give us a long list to deal with.

It is just a try-on, but it has not come off.

The Dáil is entitled to discuss every Estimate as long as it likes and as often as it likes and to sit here all the year round for that purpose.

Providentially we have secured that that is so.

You did not secure it.

Am I to understand that we are to discuss the President's Establishment on the same Vote as Minor Employment Schemes?

The President's Establishment can be discussed on one Vote and one Vote only.

The Tánaiste is now beating a discreet retreat.
