A total of 6,185 acres of flax was grown in County Cork in 1945 and growers received £195,138 for scutched flax marketed by them up to the 8th May. It is anticipated that the acreage in 1946 will show a substantial decrease as compared with 1945. I cannot forecast the position in future years.
