Vol. 102 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Swords Petrol Supplies.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that there has been no petrol available in Swords for the past ten days; that the absence of petrol supplies has caused considerable inconvenience to farmers in the area who have new potatoes and other vegetables to dispose of in the Dublin markets; and if he will take steps to see that the position is immediately remedied and to ensure that there will not be a recurrence.

I am not aware that there has been no petrol available in Swords during the period referred to and inquiries made by me do not support the Deputy's suggestion. I find that during the period from the 25th June, 1946, to 9th July, 1946, a total quantity of 1,975 gallons of petrol was delivered to motor spirit retailers in Swords and that during this period orders for supplies received by the oil distributing companies from these retailers were promptly executed.
