Vol. 103 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Telephone Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state when it is proposed to improve the Dublin telephone service, and if applications for new installations will receive consideration at an early date.

Additional equipment is at present being installed in the Dublin automatic exchanges and it is hoped that the work will be completed by next summer. This equipment will greatly improve the standard of service on local calls and will also enable additional subscribers to be taken on.

The trunk exchange at Exchequer Street also needs to be extended in order to cater satisfactorily for the present volume of traffic and to meet future needs. Arrangements have been made to have the extension effected as early as possible.
