Vol. 108 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cashel Telephone Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state what steps are being taken to improve the telephone service in Cashel, County Tipperary, and when the direct telephone line between Cashel and Clonmel will be provided.

In order to improve the service between Cashel and Clonmel, it is proposed to provide additional circuits on the existing pole routes between Cashel and Tipperary and between Tipperary and Clonmel. The work will be put in hand as soon as circumstances permit but, owing to the amount of trunk construction arrears throughout the country, I am not in a position to say when the erection of the circuits can be undertaken. The provision of a direct line on new poles between Cashel and Clonmel is not contemplated because it would not be warranted by the traffic between the two places.
