The information asked for is not available as no special records of purchases of land by aliens are kept in my Department. In this connection I would remind the Deputy that Section 3 of the Aliens Act, 1935, provides that real and personal property of every description may be taken, acquired, held and disposed of by an alien in the like manner and to the like extent as such property may be taken, acquired, held and disposed of by a citizen.
The position in this matter has caused me much thought, and I am having it examined.
