Vol. 111 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commodore Hotel, Cobh.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state from whom the Irish Tourist Board purchased the Commodore Hotel, Cobh; the name of the seller or if a company the names of its directors; whether the hotel was bought on the open market or by private treaty; whether any commission was paid to any agent or agents such as auctioneers or solicitors for making the purchase; and, if so, how much.

The Irish Tourist Board purchased the Commodore Hotel, Cobh, from Codore, Ltd., the directors of which were Kathleen M. Davy, Mary Fitzgerald and Mary T. MacCarroll. The hotel was purchased by private treaty and no commission was paid to any agent or agents.

Is the Minister aware that this hotel was advertised in the Press and was not disposed of, and that it was afterwards purchased by the Irish Tourist Board for the sum of £11,000——that is for property that the people did not think it worth while to buy?

I assume that the Tourist Board were satisfied that they were getting a property that was worth the money.
