asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware (a) that the inhabitants of Valentia Island are extremely anxious that their island should be connected with the mainland by a bridge; (b) that they are prepared to pay the total cost of this undertaking by means of an increase in the existing rates; and, if so, whether in view of the fact that this scheme would give much needed employment to ex-turf workers and also obviate the hardship caused by bringing animals by boat to the fairs on the mainland, he will convey the necessary sanction for the project to the local authority as soon as possible.
