Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Maize Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the cost of maize to Grain Importers (Eire), Limited, at Irish ports; (b) the price charged for maize sold to millers ex-ship, and (c) the maximum and/or current retail price for maize meal delivered to agricultural producers.

(a) The average c.i.f. cost of maize imported to this country during the first five months of this year was £21 12s. 6d. per ton. (b) Maize is sold to millers by Grain Importers (Eire), Limited, ex-store Dublin and Waterford f.o.r. Sligo, Tralee and Limerick, and ex-ship (including costs of discharge) Cork at a price of £22 10s. 0d. per ton. (c) The maximum retail price of maize meal in the port areas of Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Sligo and Tralee when sold in cwt. lots is 27/8 per cwt. and in stone lots 3/8 per stone. The maximum retail price of maize meal in any other area is 28/8 per cwt. lots and 3/9 per stone for stone lots.
