Vol. 112 No. 6

Committee on Finance. - Vote 44—National Health Insurance.

I move:—

That a sum not exceeding £518,200 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending the 31st day of March, 1949, for certain Grants-in-Aid of the National Health Insurance Fund and for other payments under the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911 to 1947, and the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946), and for certain other Grants.

Vote put and agreed to.

The time taken on that Vote was exactly 95 minutes for each side until the Opposition conceded five minutes to the Minister.

That is fair enough.

The Chair goes by the time taken and not by the number of speakers on either side. In that way there may be three speakers on one side and two speakers on the other, according to the length of time a Deputy might speak.
