1242 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Education and Science the projects under the aegis of his Department comprised in the national development plan for which funding has been provided as part of the 2002 Abridged Estimates or announced in the Budget Statement; the level of funding provided; the nature of the works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy will appreciate that with a capital allocation of 550 million for first, second and third level education the full list of projects to be funded in the current year has yet to be finalised. It will comprise the completion of projects already in construction along with projects that are in stages of planning and design as well as those that will go on site during the year as design, tendering and planning permission processes execute.
Using the record level of funding and in accordance with the NDP I am finalising what will be the most extensive programme ever covering all levels including, for example, funding for projects under cycle three of the programme for research in third level institutions, and projects undertaken as public private partnerships.
