Vol. 113 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reciprocal National Health Insurance.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will indicate the present position as between our Government and that of the Six Counties in so far as reciprocal arrangements in respect of Unemployment Insurance and National Health Insurance are concerned.

A basis for reciprocity in Unemployment Insurance and National Health Insurance has been agreed between officers of my Department and officers of the Ministry of Labour and National Insurance, and a draft of a formal agreement is being prepared for consideration.

May I ask whether the present arrangement has any effect in regard to the position between this State and Northern Ireland?

The reply which I have given covers the position in respect to the Six Counties. I might add that similar reciprocal arrangements have been negotiated with the British administration, and I hope the matter will be concluded shortly.
