Vol. 113 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pension Applications Delay.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he is aware that in the Cork district there is a long delay before an investigation officer visits applicants for old age and widows' and orphans' pensions, and that the reason given is that the present staff are unable to deal more quickly with the applications; and, if so, whether he is prepared to augment this staff.

I am not aware of any undue delay in investigating claims to old age pensions and widows' and orphans' pensions in Cork City and County; if, however, the Deputy gives me details of any cases in which delay appears to have occurred I shall have them specially investigated.
