Vol. 113 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Waterworks Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether, in view of the undue delay which has taken place in completing the necessary plans for the carrying through of the waterworks scheme for Caherciveen, he will take steps to ensure that the scheme is commenced at an early date.

Mr. Murphy

The consulting engineer submitted his proposals for the Caherciveen water supply scheme to the local authority some time ago, but they have not yet been submitted to the Department for approval. I understand that the county engineer has made some suggestions for the amendment of the proposals, in particular as regards the site of the filters and the extent of purification required and that these points are still under consideration locally. When the proposals reach the Department they will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
