Vol. 113 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clare House and Allotment.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a house and allotment on the Inchiquin Farm, at Ballygirreen, Newmarket-on-Fergus, County Clare, are vacant now for several years; if he can state for whom this allotment and house were originally intended; what area of land the proposed allottee held when the allotment and house were assigned to him; what area of land he presently holds, and if he disposed of any holdings since he was offered the allotment at Ballygirreen; why the house on the allotment is allowed to remain untenanted and to go into disrepair and the allotment to remain uncultivated; and if he is in a position to say how and when the allotment will be finally disposed of.

The Land Commission have two unallotted holdings, each with a house, on the Inchiquin estate at Ballygirreen, Newmarket-on-Fergus. The Deputy does not specify the holding in which he is interested. It is hoped to have both holdings allotted at an early date.

Would the Minister say what he means by "an early date" because this matter has been going on for several years and the plot is lying idle? Nothing has been done and evidently this man has some influence in some way or another to prevent anything being done.

The paralysis which was imposed on the Land Commission by the last Government, I can assure the Deputy, is being lubricated as quickly as possible.

Tell them that in Carndonagh.

There still seems to be too much red tape connected with the Department. That red tape should be cut immediately.
