The quantity of tea issued in 1948 for retail consumption at subsidised prices was 20,170,872 lbs. and the quantity issued for other purposes was 311,363 lbs. The corresponding figures for the last four months of that year were 7,197,713 lbs. and 258,415 lbs., respectively.
