Vol. 114 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Board of Assistance Staffs.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the reason for the delay in sanctioning the payment of the 11/- bonus to the clerical staff of the Dublin Board of Assistance, as long since recommended by the chief executive officer; and if he will arrange for early sanction in view of the fact that all staffs under the Department of Local Government and under the Department of Health have been granted the bonus.

I have no functions in relation to the clerical staff employed by the Dublin Board of Assistance and proposals for payment of a bonus to the clerical staff of the board would not, and have not, come to my Department for sanction. I would suggest to the Deputy that he make inquiries from the Minister for Local Government in the matter.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when the officers of the Dublin Board of Assistance who are in receipt of salaries of £350 and over may reasonably expect sanction for the payment of a bonus to them.

The salaries of the superintendent assistance officer, home assistance inspectors, and assistance officers, in the employment of the Dublin Board of Assistance, were revised in December last and the new salary scales, which represented substantial increases on previous scales, were brought into operation with retrospective effect from the 1st June, 1948.

I have no functions in regard to the remuneration of the clerical and medical staffs in the board's service.
