Vol. 115 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Motor Tax Office.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make representations to the responsible authorities with a view to having a motor taxation office reopened at Dublin County Council offices, Parnell Square, so as to alleviate the usual congestion at the Kildare Street taxation office and eliminate the long delay that County Dublin residents are subjected to when taxing motor vehicles, etc.

It is not considered that the step suggested by the Deputy would result in the speedier issue of licences. The amalgamation of the two offices in Kildare Street is part of a plan to secure more expeditious and economic administration and further steps to expedite the issue of licences at peak periods are under consideration. Personal attendance is not necessary when applying for licences. If applications were made by post in good time before the commencement of the licensing period it would materially assist in the expeditious issue of licences.
