Vol. 118 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Alterations at Leinster House.

asked the Minister for Finance if he can state the actual cost to date of the alterations that are at present being carried out on the forefront of Leinster House, and also the estimated cost for the completion of the work.

The cost of the work, which includes the removal of the Victoria Monument, the erection of the island feature, tarmac surfacing and improvement of the lighting of the courtyard, amounts to date to about £6,500.

The cost of the balance of the work is estimated at £1,300.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary not consider that this money would be much better spent in erecting a decent waiting room at Leinster House to replace the present dog house?

It may come in its own good time.
